An important event for Shinmeizan, this month, has been the appointment of Sr. Maria De Giorgi, Assistant Director of the Center, as  Consultor to the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialog.  Sr. Maria, who belongs to the Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of Mary (Xaverian Sisters), has been active at Shinmeizan from the very beginning and for 15 years has taught courses on interreligious dialog at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. She is also a Consultor of the Subcommittee for interreligious dialog of the Bishops` Conference of Japan.

September 2020

   Also in Japan the covid-19 still obliges us to be cautious and prudent in holding gatherings and in meeting people. This situation has been, however, an occasion to develop further, and to practice more, virtual encounters and meetings via internet.  Also Shinmeizan has adapted to the new techniques.

August 2020 : Voice of young people

This year, because of Covid-19, the annual courses on the meaning and value of human life from a religious perspective, which Shinmeizan has been holding over the last twenty years for students of the University of Industrial Medicine, have been canceled.     We fill the lack of special news for this month with the impressions and  comments sent to us by some of the young people who have stayed with us for some time this year.

June and July 2020

Also this year, Shinmeizan took part in the yearly event organized by the Seimeizan Schweitzer Temple of Tamana to remember the unjust execution of Nishi Takeo and to continue the struggle against the death penalty.  The event was held on June 21 and 27 and, because of the persisting danger of the corona virus, it was held via internet with “ZOOM”!
