Symphonies of Peace

Since its very beginning, Shinmeizan has been involved in international interreligious events having as their goal the pursuit of world peace. Among these, a special place is given to the meetings known as “Uomini e Religioni (Peoples and Religions)”, which are held annually in various European cities by the Community of Saint Egidio as an ideal con-tinuation of the great Assisi gathering of religious leaders, called by Saint John Paul II in 1986.

Shinmeizan: Biennial meeting of Prayer for Peace

On October 5th Shinmeizan celebrated the 11th biennial meeting of its partners of interreligious dialogue. Following a 20 years tradition, the meeting took the form of prayers for peace in the world, offered in succession by the representatives of each religious tradition, one after the other, at the presence of all.

Dialogue with Islam in Japan

During the last twenty years, Islam has gained a greater visibility in Japan also in areas far away from the big metropolis of Tokyo and Osaka,like, for example, in the city of Kumamoto, in Kyushu, where hundreds of Muslims are now present especially in the local University, and where an Islamic Center was opened in 2008.
