Maria De Giorgi back in Rome

On February 9, Maria De Giorgi left once more for Rome to teach at the Pontifical Gregorian University in the faculty of Missiology and at the Center for Interreligious Studies.

This year, the 14th in a row of her academic activity at the Gregorian University, Maria will be giving a course on “Mission: evangelization, proclamation and dialogue in the Church’s Magisterium after Vatican II”, another course on “The Christian mission in Asia during the first millennium: Proclamation of the Gospel, adaptation, refusal and critical assimilation. Suggestions for us today”, and a workshop on “Karmic man and ‘homo capax Dei’: Buddhist and Christian Anthropology in dialogue.”  Maria will return to Shinmeizan at the end of June.

Meeting of Xaverian Missionaries working in the field of interreligious dialogue in Asia.

From February 11 to February 15, Fr. Franco took part in the meeting of the Xaverians working in Asia in the field of interreligious dialogue, held at Taipei (Taiwan).  Other participants came from Indonesia, Bangladesh, Taiwan, The Philippines and Japan.  Confreres from Thailand were not able to attend.  Object of the 5 days’ meeting was, first of all, an exchange of information on the activities being carried on in the field of interreligious dialogue in the various Xaverian Regions of Asia; secondly, to reflect on the connection between interreligious dialogue and the specific identity of the Xaverians; and, finally, to explore and suggest ways to strengthen and qualify the Xaverians’ commitment to this field of activity especially in Asia.
