September 2020

Also in Japan the covid-19 still obliges us to be cautious and prudent in holding gatherings and in meeting people. This situation has been, however, an occasion to develop further, and to practice more, virtual encounters and meetings via internet.  Also Shinmeizan has adapted to the new techniques.

For example, on September 20, Fr. Franco and Sr. Maria De Giorgi, have been asked to take part - via ZOOM - in  an interreligious program held in the Philippines, by Fr. Sebastiano D`Ambra, founder and director of the `Silsilah movement` for the promotion of dialogue between Christians and Muslims. Sr. Maria was interviewed by Fr. Sebastiano, and asked to speak about the  words of Jesus: “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth” (Mt 5,  5).

On September 27, Sr. Maria has been invited to take part - again via “ZOOM” - , in an interreligious program held in Milan, Italy,  speaking on the biblical and liturgical meaning of `oil` in the Catholic tradition.  Other speakers dealt with the same subject from the point of view of each one`s own religion: Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, as well as Christians belonging to the Orthodox Church and to the Evangelical Methodist Community.
