February 2020

On February 11th, about twenty people, belonging to the group known as 'Katakamuna', gathered at Shinmeizan for a study session. It is not easy to define this group, or even to describe it as one of the many ‘new-new religions’ of Japan. But since Jesus seems to be the pivotal element of their interpretation of human events, they have come to Shinmeizan, asking to know more about Him, his teaching, and the Bible in general.

On February 17-18, Shinmeizan welcomed Ven. Riken Ikegami, Head of the Pure Land Buddhist Temple of Butsuganji, in Wakayama Prefecture. Along with study sessions, and group meetings, these personal encounters are an important way of interreligious dialog.
