The most important news from Shinmeizan this month is the arrival of Mr. Taichi and Mrs.Mariko Shinohara, husband and wife, who have been our friends for many years and now, after retirement from work, have joined our small community to live and… work with us!
MAIN ACTIVITIES OF INTERRELIGIOUS DIALOGUE – MARCH 2018
March 5 – Fr. Sonoda and Fr. Franco attend the solemn celebration of the 80th anniversary of the foundation of Rissho kosei kai, at the Kumamoto headquarters of this world-widespread and very active lay Buddhist organization, which is remarkable also for its commitment to, and engagement in, interreligious dialogue.

SHINMEIZAN: January 2018
Almost two thirds of the Japanese begin the year with a visit to a Shrine, usually a Shinto Shrine. Characteristic decorations for this occasion are the kadomatsu placed at the gates of temples, public places or also private houses; the shimenawa hung over the gates of Shinto Temples, or also of private houses, or even on the front of cars! as well as the kagamimochi placed over a small altar-like support or simply on a fitting place in the house.
