August 2020 : Voice of young people

This year, because of Covid-19, the annual courses on the meaning and value of human life from a religious perspective, which Shinmeizan has been holding over the last twenty years for students of the University of Industrial Medicine, have been canceled.     We fill the lack of special news for this month with the impressions and  comments sent to us by some of the young people who have stayed with us for some time this year.

June and July 2020

Also this year, Shinmeizan took part in the yearly event organized by the Seimeizan Schweitzer Temple of Tamana to remember the unjust execution of Nishi Takeo and to continue the struggle against the death penalty.  The event was held on June 21 and 27 and, because of the persisting danger of the corona virus, it was held via internet with “ZOOM”!

June 2020

After cancelling it for three months, due to the danger of contracting/spreading the Covid-19, on June 11th we resumed the practice of our monthly retreat. It was the 246th of the series. On this occasion we also celebrated the 50th marriage anniversary of Mr. ad Mrs. Toyama, two faithful participants of the retreat, and friends as well as benefactors of Shinmeizan.

March-April 2020

During these months of March and April, on account of the dangerous spreading of the coronavirus epidemic, following the guidelines of both the civil authorities and of the catholic diocese of Fukuoka, also Shinmeizan has been obliged to suspend all activities involving meetings and gatherings. In the field of interreligious dialogue, all we could do was to send to all our Buddhist partners in dialogue, by post or internet, our friendly congratulations on the occasion of the feast
