Although this month it was particularly hot and the covid-19 virus continued to hamper social life, Shinmeizan was able to continue its usual activities. Among them we wish to remember the following:
- August 1-3: five young people attended the annual study session for Students of the University of Industrial Medicine of Kitakyushu, held by Shinmeizan, on the meaning and value of human life from a religious perspective.
The great heat, and some violent storm, of the season notwithstanding, Shinmeizan was able to carry on its usual activities also during the last month of July. Among these we wish to remember in a special way the following:
On June 5-6, Shinmeizan welcomed longtime friend Ven. Ide Satoshi, Head of the Sainen Temple of Pure Land Buddhism in Imari (Saga Pref.), accompanied by two members of his `sangha`, who stayed with us for a couple of days.
With the coming of spring, the blossoming of so many flowers at Shinmeizan delights the sight of visitors and guests. For May 31, the feast of the “Visitation of the B. V. Mary”, the hedges along the stairway leading up to the top of the hill, in full bloom, paid homage to the group of statues representing the apparition of Our Blessed Lady to the three young shepherds of Fatima.
